adidas Originals by ALEXANDER WANG SEASON 3: DROP 3

On June 23rd, adidas Originals and Alexander Wang launch the last drop of Season 3 at select retail locations, adidas Originals and Alexander Wang flagship locations, and both brands’ ecommerce sites. Inspired by flaws in the clothing production process, the collection turns errors into the foundation of the collection. With pixelated graphics, uneven prints, and perma-wrinkled fabrics, rejection is established as the new perfection.

The inspiration behind Drop 3 comes from a fictional unlabeled box found in the adidas archives, full of forgotten, untouched, forever-folded (and creased) samples. With new textures and fabric breakthroughs, adidas Originals & Alexander Wang seek to reimagine core adidas staples, as well as new pieces such as crop tops, skirts, and dresses. In a feat of material invention, each piece is perma-wrinkled for a discarded effect. No two pieces are alike.

Signature adidas colors of black, bluebird, and core red dominate the palette, which offers new key styles and silhouettes for women. The half-zip AW Windbreaker is cut with a boxy fit and features an inside-out 3-stripe motif along its sleeves. Suited for courtside or city streets, the AW Tank Dress features ribbed trims and the iconic upside-down Trefoil front and center. The AW Turnout Trainer is a blast of color and texture, combining multi-sport tooling with a running-inspired nylon upper, suede overlays, and an industrial foam tongue. The result is an unusual take on adidas history through the lens of Alexander Wang.

The Drop 3 campaign takes place inside an industrial laundromat, a space in which, when it comes to clothing, so much can go wrong. Models Lexi Boling and Cat McNeil elevate the banal to the surreal as they pose on countertops and in windows, “surf” on ironing boards, and dive into piles of laundry. The surprising, offbeat imagery, photographed by Brianna Capozzi and styled by Haley Wollens, captures the rebellious spirit of the collection and encapsulates Wang’s irreverent approach to remaking the icons of adidas.
