KARHU TAKES YOU ON A HISTORICAL RUN IN THE HEART OF HELSINKI
Posted on June 12 2020
For the second part of the Marathon Pack, we were inspired by Töölönlahti, a popular running area right next to the Olympic Stadium and the statue of legendary Finnish runner, Paavo Nurmi. Often listed as a ‘must run route’ by Finnish media outlets, the area is one of the most common places in Helsinki to run and huge amounts of runners can be found here training, especially on weekends.
One of the oldest running events in Finland (founded in 1929), the Kaisaniemen Run, takes place in both the Kaisaniemi and Töölönlahti area. Finnish runners Paavo Kotila and Eino Oksanen who have both won the Boston Marathon, have also won this historical running event.
The “Marathon” Pack consists of a Fusion 2.0 and two Aria 95s in sporty color blocked options. The white and o -white leather parts used on all three of the shoes are inspired by the white aesthetics of the Alvar Aalto designed Finlandia Hall. The wooden training route is a direct link to the suede overlays on the Fusion 2.0, and the bright colored suede panels of both Aria 95 models are a link to the late 80s and early 90s colors used in running shoes.
